The Bane of South Florida Existence

Posted by
Susan (Pompano Beach, by Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States) on 16 February 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale, with it's pain in the ass bridge open, for a change!! During season down here, when there's the most auto traffic, I swear they raise this bridge every 15 minutes, so all the big boats can mosey on thru...which causes more massive auto congestion each time!!
There, complaining over for the day, and I feel better now!!

great shot Susan must be annoying at times. Beautiful light in this

@jamesy: yes, annoying, but made for a nice photo!!!!

Jerry from Tampa, United States

LOVE this image Susan! I live in Tampa and we have same situation! AWESOME work!

@Jerry: So glad you like it!!!! It just sucks to live in Florida, huh??? NOT!!!

Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United States

Great last light shot, Susan, and the bridge scene happens up and down the coastal areas. You're right, the boaters seem to amble their way through and be in no rush!

@Judy: Yea, it's especially aggravating when you're in a hurry to get somewhere!!

zahai from Berlin, Germany

Great light and colors, perfect processing. Beautiful :)

@zahai: Thank you for your v&c!!!

Lindsay from North Carolina, United States

Wow...I am always amazed with those bridges...but I can see if I lived there and had to deal with it...it would get on my nerves too. Great shot though...well worth the hassle.

16 Feb 2009 5:53pm

@Lindsay: Yes, luckily, i was not held up by this one!!

Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United States

Well a little traffic jam is always good fodder for a great photo. Love the fading sunlight on the steel.

@Suzanne: Lucky for me, I wasn't waiting for this bridge to go down....since I was under it!!! It did make for a nice shot though!!!

Jen from St. George, United States

I love the light in this scene. I know the bridge being up causes frustration, but somehow this scene looks relaxed and lazy and peaceful, because of the light. Since I'm not the one stuck in traffic, I think it looks great!! :)

@Jen: I wasn't stuck in it's traffic either, but it was fun to point out to everyone what a pain they are!!

JJ from Jersey City, United States

Gorgeous shot the light and colors are superb, I can understand for those who have to regularly drive over this bridge it must be so frustrating when its up

@JJ: You are just too kind!!! yup, those bridges can be a real pain in the butt...luckily, i don't encounter them going to work..,,only when I go to the beach!!
